Am9513: Counting Events Using Easy-Level VIs

Filename: count_events-easy__9513_.zip
Requirements: View

This VI counts the number of TTL rising edges on the SOURCE pin of the chosen counter. This VI works with legacy MIO type devices that have an Am9513 counter/timer chip. Examples of these devices are the AT-MIO-16, NB-MIO-16, and PC-TIO-10.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Enter the device number of your board.
2. Enter the counter number.
3. Choose the number of counters to use.
4. Make the appropriate I/O connections as explained below.
5. Run the VI.

KEY PARAMETERS
This VI uses the easy-level Count Events or Time.vi to count TTL rising edges. The first time this subVI is called in the while loop the iteration "i" is zero, and the counter starts counting. Each successive call of the subVI reads the count. The small loop delay is used to free up processor time of your computer. Pressing the STOP button resets the counter.

I/O CONNECTIONS
Connect your TTL signal to be counted to the SOURCE pin of the chosen counter.
If you chose the number of counters to use to be two counters (32-bits), wire the OUT from your chosen counter to the SOURCE of counter+1.
To find the actual pin numbers, refer to the hardware user manual.
