This LabVIEW Player example illustrates various averaging techniques for power spectral measurements. Note how Vector averaging can reduce noise if the Trigger is "On". This makes the acquisition of the signal synchronous, so that uncorrelated noise is gradually reduced. Try this with linear averaging set to a large number of averages, for example 10000.
