This virtual instrument (VI) enables you to specify as read or write lines individual digital I/O (DIO) lines on E Series devices. Thus, you can read values from or write values to a DIO line without affecting the direction or value of the other DIO lines on that port.

Note: Using the Write_to_Digital_Line.VI or Read_from_Digital_Line.VI causes all of the lines on a port to be updated.

Each line is set to perform Input (Read) or Output (Write) based on the value of the Line Direction Map. Appropriate Line Masks, which are calculated from the Line Direction Map, are used to specify from which lines the DIO_Port_Read.VI should read and to which lines the DIO_Port_Write.VI should write. The Line Direction Map is selected by the user on the front panel.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Connect DIO<0..3> to DIO<4..7>. For default configuration, these connections are dependent on the setup of the Digital Line Configuration.
2. Enter the device number of the E Series device.
3. Set the Digital Line Configuration of each line to Read or Write.
4. Run the VI.
5. Make changes to the Write boolean controls and observe changes on the corresponding Read boolean indicators.
