This example shows how to use the counters of an E Series DAQ board to create a retriggerable analog input operation. The counters are set up to generate a finite pulse train (20 pulses) every time a trigger occurs on the gate of counter 1. The analog input operation is set up to use the pulse train as an external scan clock. The net result is that the board performs 20 scans every time a trigger is detected on the gate of counter 1.

For more information on how retriggerable acquisition is accomplished with E Series boards, please refer to Knowledge Base 2P5EJFUV.

NOTE: This was written using LabWindows/CVI, but the SimulateRetriggerScan_ESseries.c file can be used in any ANSI C compiler with little modification.
