Simple Quadrature Encoder Measurement with DAQ Assistant Express VI

This example demonstrates using a counter to read from a two-pulse quadrature encoder using the DAQmx Assistant Express VI.

Block Diagram Steps:

1. Place a DAQmx Assistant Express VI on the block diagram

2. Configure the properties of the task
i. Choose Counter Input.
ii. Choose Edge Count.
iii. Choose the Physical channel from your device.
iv. Set the Active Edge, Initial Count, and Set Count Direction to Externally Controlled.
v. Set the Task Timing to Count Edges.

3. Connect the data output of the Express VI to an indicator.

4. Place a while loop around the VI for continuous counting.

express encoder
I have yet to get an express vi to work with an encoder. This vi (which is counting edges on an encoder when you are supposed to be able to measure the encoder with the counter output>position>angular option). I guess I'm missing something since I couldn't get any reading out of this vi either.
