Language Interface: 16-bit Microsoft Pascal

This is the GPIB language interface for Microsoft Pascal, a DOS programming environment for creating 16-bit applications. Download the Mspascal.zip file (in the example.zip file, below). This file contains the declaration file DECL.PAS, the language interface file PIB.OBJ, and some sample programs.


How to Use the 16-bit Microsoft Pascal Language Interface:

I. Overview

The 16-bit GPIB language interface contains the following files:

DECL.PAS: Pascal declaration file
PIB.OBJ: Pascal language interface module


II. Items to Include in Your GPIB Application

You must include the following line at the beginning of your application:

{$INCLUDE: 'DECL.PAS'}

Next you need to link the PIB.OBJ file to your application.


III. Compiling, Linking, and Running from the DOS Command Line

From the DOS command line, type in the following to compile and link an application, called yourprog, with the Microsoft Pascal language interface, PIB.OBJ:

pl yourprog.pas pib.obj

To run the newly created executable, type in the name of your application on the DOS command line, like so:

yourprog


IV. Note to IBM Pascal Users about Names

The board or device name must be of type nbuf (array[1..7] of char). nbuf is defined in DECL.PAS. Use blanks to pad the name.

Example:

var bdname : nbuf;
bdname := 'gpib0 ';
