Manually Scaling Thermocouple Measurements in DAQmx

This example program acquires thermocouple data from an SCXI-1102 (or any SCXI, SCC, or DAQ device that has a built-in CJC), averages it, linearizes it, and graphs it on a strip chart. The thermocouple values are read as raw voltages and scaled in software, so this example can be used as a template for any application that requires a custom thermocouple which isn't supported by DAQmx.

During the acquisition process, this VI reads the CJC (Cold-Junction Compensation) voltage along with the other channels so that the temperature readings will stay accurate over time as the ambient temperature changes. This is the same method that is used with a DAQmx thermocouple task, and will ensure that the CJC sensor is read repeatedly throughout the acquisition, as opposed to once at the beginning. Repeatedly reading the CJC sensor will eliminate the effects of temperature drift.

This example also demonstrates how to read the cold junction sensor of the SCXI module amplifier along with the rest of the channels.
