The NI-FGEN step in SignalExpress 1.1 is based on the NI-FGEN Express VI. This example was created to accomodate the functionality of the NI PXI-5404 through the use of a User-Defined step.

***Instructions for the 5404 User Defined Step Example for SignalExpress 2.0***

1. Insert a User-Defined Step in your SignalExpress project.

2. Browse for the 5404_User_Defined_Step.vi located in the 5404_User_Defined_Step.llb.

3. Select the Configure VI tab on the Step Setup Dialog Box.

4. Specify the appropriate device, configuration, and functionality for your measurement application.

5. Click the Run button to begin simultaneously outputting a sine wave and clock pulse on your 5404. Notice that you can modify the characteristics of the outputs as the step is running.

6. If you have an NI Scope card, wire the outputs of your 5404 to the inputs of your Scope card and add an NI-Scope Acquire Step in Signal Express to measure the generated signals. Otherwise, view them on an oscilloscope or other instrument. Remember that the voltages listed assume that the outputs of the 5404 terminate into high impedance.
