Finding the Size of a Modular Instrument's Onboard Memory

Overview

Several modular instruments have an onboard memory used to store data for acquisition or generation. The methods of finding and calculating total onboard memory vary among drivers. This example program demonstrates how to calculate the memory on your digitizer, AWG, or digital waveform generator/analyzer.

The attached library file contains two VIs.

  • The top-level VI, called check_onboard_memory, opens a session with your modular instrument, reads the necessary properties, and closes the session. It then calculates the total onboard memory and displays an appropriate value for the type of device.
  • The second VI, called find_hsdio_device_model, is used when working with a high-speed digital I/O device. It scans through a list of all installed NI HSDIO devices and selects your desired card.
