Fixing Menu Bar Flicker in TestStand User Interfaces

Overview

By copying two library files to your local machine, you can fix the occasional menu flicker visible in some combinations of TestStand and LabVIEW User Interfaces.

If you have TestStand 3.5 or 4.0 in combination with LabVIEW 8.5 you may experience a slight menu bar flicker when running LabVIEW User Interfaces. Downloading the appropriate attached .llb files, unzipping them and replacing the currently installed versions of these library files will update these libraries to newer versions that include a solution to this cosmetic bug. Any future applications that you build using these libraries will not exhibit this flickering behavior.

TestStand 3.5 instructions:

  1. Download and unzip ts35_llb_files.zip
  2. Copy the newly unzipped _TSUISuppoort.llb file to the <LabVIEW 8.5 installation directory>\vi.lib\addons\TestStand\  directory, being sure to replace the current _TSUISupport.llb library file.
    • The default LabVIEW 8.5 installation directory is C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\
  3. Copy the newly unzipped TestExec.llb file to the <TestStand 3.5 installation directory>\OperatorInterfaces\NI\Full-Featured\LabVIEW\ directory, being sure to replace the current TestExec.llb library file.
    • The default TestStand 3.5 installation directory is C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\
    • Note: If you have copied the interface files into the ...\OperatorInterfaces\User\... directories for development, these library files should be updated as well

TestStand 4.0 instructions:

  1. Download and unzip ts40_llb_files.zip
  2. Copy the newly unzipped _TSUISuppoort.llb file to the <LabVIEW 8.5 installation directory>\vi.lib\addons\TestStand\ directory, being sure to replace the current _TSUISupport.llb library file.

    • The default LabVIEW 8.5 installation directory is C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.5\

  3. Copy the newly unzipped TestExec.llb file to the <TestStand 4.0 installation directory>\UserInterfaces\NI\Full-Featured\LabVIEW\ directory, being sure to replace the current TestExec.llb library file.

    • The default TestStand 4.0 installation directory is C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 4.0
    • Note: If you have copied the interface files into the ...\UserInterfaces\User\... directories for development, these library files should be updated as well

 

This behavior is due to a change in menu management in LabVIEW 8.5 and is fixed in future distributed versions of TestStand beginning with 4.0.1.
