Bonded Strain Gage Accelerometer
Overview
A bonded strain-gage accelerometer has wire or foil gages bonded directly to the spring elements. The acceleration causes deformation of the spring element, stretching one group of gages and contracting the other. The gages connected in a bridge circuit produce an electrical signal as a response to the acceleration.
Bonded strain-gage accelerometer. a = acceleration, 1 = seismic mass, 2 = spring element, 3 and 4 = strain gages, 5 = case.
