Toothed Rotor Magnetic Tachometer
Overview
A toothed-rotor magnetic tachometer is composed of a soft ferromagnetic or magnetic-material rotor with protrusions that modulate the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit when the rotor rotates. The magnetic circuit includes a ferromagnetic rotor, permanent magnet, conductors of the magnetic flux, and a coil, or it is composed of a magnetic rotor and Hall element. The voltage developed in the coil or Hall element is proportional to the speed. The change in the magnetic flux of the system occurs due to alternating the reluctance of the magnetic path, redistributing the flux, or inducing the eddy currents.
