With the NI-VISN-100 RFID Tester, engineers can perform conformance tests for RFID devices.

The NI-VISN-100 RFID Tester developed by VI Service Network, a National Instruments Alliance Partner, is a conformance test and measurement solution for radio frequency identification (RFID) devices. It is the first instrument in the world with a built-in RFID protocol stack and real-time communications capability. The tester is based on NI vector RF modules, including a 2.7 GHz PXI upconverter, a 2.7 GHz PXI downconverter, a 3 GHz RF preamplifier, and an FPGA-based RF transceiver. With the capability of real-time vector RF signal generation and analysis, the tester can generate and analyze the RFID signal according to all RFID standards.

During the conformance test, engineers can download standard or customized commands and parameters from the host controller to the RF modules. Using the RF modules, the tester converts the baseband signal to the RF signal and transmits it to the RFID unit under test (UUT) via cable or air interface. With the PXI system hardware trigger, the RF modules can acquire the response signal from the UUT at the same time. RFID product developers, certification labs, and protocol conformance test groups can execute basic test items in the “Test Panel” and create advanced or customized tests with the “Test Toolkit.” They also can use the RFID Test Toolkit to create test sequences and integrate with test management software such as NI TestStand for manufacturing test or protocol conformance.

The NI-VISN-100 RFID Tester is available from VI Service Network or its representatives including Peritec in Japan, T&C Technologies in Taiwan, Infinity Wireless in Korea, and Nexjen Systems in the United States.
