With NI automated test system courses, students learn to configure a wide variety of measurement, signal generation, RF, power, and switch modules in NI LabVIEW and other software to meet their specific test and measurement tasks. Depending on the hardware and software they select to build the system, students can choose from several different training paths for automated test applications.
NI Automated Test System Training Paths

LabVIEW Core Path
Students interested in advancing their LabVIEW skills to learn techniques for large application development and project management should follow the LabVIEW Core path.
Test Software Path

Depending on their programming environment, students start with one of the following:
- LabVIEW Core 1

View Course Details | Review Sample Course Material
NI TestStand users should progress from LabVIEW Core 1 or LabWindows™/CVI Basics I to:
- TestStand I
View Course Details | Review Sample Course Material - TestStand II

Students explore how to develop practical test applications using NI TestStand tools. They also learn how to customize items such as the operator interface, user privileges, reports, and process model as well as examine advanced features such as multithreading and multi-UUT (unit under test) testing.
Test Hardware Paths
There are three test hardware paths, depending on the specific hardware being used in the test application:
- RF and wireless test
- Instrument control
- Modular instruments
RF and Wireless Test

For RF and wireless test applications, LabVIEW users should progress from LabVIEW Core 1 to:
- RF Measurement Fundamentals

First students examine the RF measurement fundaments they need to develop effective test applications with NI RF hardware and LabVIEW in the RF Measurement Fundamentals course.
Then students progress to the RF Application Development course to learn the application development techniques and practices that are specific to RF test applications incorporating LabVIEW software and RF PXI instruments.
Instrument Control

LabVIEW users also developing instrument control applications should progress from LabVIEW Core 1 to:
- LabVIEW Instrument Control
View Course Details | Review Sample Course Material
From basic instrument control and communication to the development of well-structured instrument drives, students learn the fundamentals of working with GPIB and serial port instruments.
Modular Instruments

LabVIEW users who are developing test or measurement systems with NI modular instrument digital multimeters (DMMs), switches, or high-speed digital modules should progress from LabVIEW Core 1 to:
- Modular Instruments: Digital Multimeters (Online)
