reverberation time
At a point in an enclosure, and for a stated frequency or frequency band, the time required for the level of the mean-square sound pressure to decrease by 60 dB after the source has been stopped. The symbol is T60.
Also, the rate of decay of sound pressure level in an enclosure.

Industry/Application Area:
Used in the measurement of many acoustic parameters, including:
- Sound power level by direct method in a reverberation chamber
- Sound absorption coefficient
- Sound transmission loss
Frequency Range of Interest:
Generally in 1/3 octave bands from 100 Hz to 5000 Hz. Measurements may be extended to the 63 Hz octave band in large chambers, and to the 16 kHz octave band for some special purpose measurements.
Units:
s (for reverberation time, RT) and dB/s (for decay rate)
