How to Create and Download an Executable to a FieldPoint Target
1. Target LabVIEW to your FieldPoint Controller. Create and save the VI you would like to make into an executable.2. Select Tools >> Build Application or Shared Library (DLL).
3. Leave the default settings on the Target and VI Settings tabs. Verify that the source file is the VI you wish to make an executable. Also, verify that the check box is checked on the Application Settings tab.
4. Click Build. If prompted to close files in memory, click Close VIs. If prompted that the Target OS has its own version of a DLL, click OK.
5. The executable will now build and download to the FieldPoint target. You should get a message stating that the build was finished. Click OK on this and click Done on the Build Application or Shared Library (DLL) window. If you want, create a script file to easily recreate the build when prompted.1. Target LabVIEW to your FieldPoint Controller. Open the saved VI that was built into an executable.
2. Select Tools >> Web Publishing Tool. You may need to expand the menu to see this option.
3. The Web Publishing Tool will now open. Type in a name for your Document Title. Fill in text you wish to appear above and below the VI panel. Make sure the VI Name is correct. Click Save to Disk.
4. Select a convenient place to save the HTML file to, such as the Desktop. Rename the file so its name is "index.htm".
5. You will must likely be prompted that the file was not saved in the web server’s root directory. Click OK. This is okay because you will need to publish the HTML file you have created to your FieldPoint controller in a later step. Click Done to exit the Web Publishing Tool. 1. Open up a web browser, such as Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type in "ftp://x.x.x.x/NI-RT/SYSTEM/WWW/" where x.x.x.x is the FieldPoint controller IP address.
2. Copy and paste the newly created index.htm file in this directory. If prompted to replace the file, select Yes. Close the FTP window.
3. Open any web browser and type the IP address or name of the controller in the address bar. Right click on the VI running and select “Request Control” to take control of the VI. Note: The LabVIEW runtime engine will need to be installed on any computer that is trying to access the remote front panel.
