Triggered Starting and/or Stopping of an Acquisition
Table of Contents
Description
All National Instruments IMAQ boards provide at least one trigger input, which can be used for various triggering functions. The most simple use is to trigger the start of a one-shot or continuous acquisition. The trigger can be supplied to an external trigger input, or in frame grabbers equipped with the Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus, it can be supplied from another hardware device such as a National Instruments data acquisition (DAQ) board.A stop trigger can be implemented in software by using an IMAQ occurrence which is activated by the receipt of an external trigger. The occurrence then allows code to execute which exits the processing loop and halts the acquisition.
Common Applications
Any application in which an event may occur at any time is a candidate for start/stop triggering. System resources are conserved by only acquiring and processing images during the actual event of interest.
What To Expect
Continuous or single acquisition triggered by an external event.
