Configuring Electronics Workbench DesignSuite Freeware Edition for a Proxy Server
Overview
Thank you for downloading or requesting the Electronics Workbench DesignSuite Freeware Edition. If you are using a proxy server for HTTP (web) access, you need to specify the host and port of your HTTP proxy server to unlock all of the features in the DesignSuite Freeware.
You can configure the settings when you install the freeware or by editing the EWB.ini file after installation. Please contact your system administrator for HTTP proxy information.

Configuring the Proxy Server During Installation
- During installation you are prompted to enter your user information including your name, email, and country. At this stage, there are also fields for HTTP port and proxy server.
- Enter your HTTP port and proxy server name, IP address, or alias in the appropriate boxes.
Manually Setting Proxy Server Settings
- Open the EWB.ini file from the Product Settings Folder. The default location of this file is in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9 Freeware\settings.
- Add a line to specify the proxy server host. Enter the proxy server host after the line that reads [network].
- You can specify the proxy server by either writing the server name, IP address, or alias.
- You can edit the HTTP proxy port by modifying the default port.
- The contents of the INI file with proxy server configurations include:
[network]
httpproxyhost=<host name, ip address, or alias>
httpproxyport=<port number>
Example:
[network]
httpproxyhost=myProxyHostName
httpproxyport=80
Editing Proxy Server Settings
- These instructions apply only if you have already configured the proxy settings and you would like to modify them.
- Open the EWB.ini file from the Product Settings Folder. The default location of this file is in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Electronics Workbench\EWB9 Freeware\settings.
- Modify the http proxy server host and/or the http proxy port settings manually by changing the name and/or numbers.
