Simplify Switch Module Integration

With NI Switch Executive, you can configure all of the IVI-compliant switch modules in your system as one virtual device. You can assign alias names - usually instrument names, UUT test points, or other signals - to each of your terminals so they are easier to remember and manage. You can also configure hardwires to describe the connections between each module so you can automatically route signals to any endpoint across the system.

Save Time with Assisted Routing

With NI Switch Executive, you interactively define and name switch routes that you later call from your test application. You simply choose your named endpoints and NI Switch Executive finds an available route. You can also input your signal characteristics to find routes with the proper switches. The interactive interface displays the full signal path that the route takes. You can override the automatic routing or manually specify a route. Once a route is defined, it remains constant to ensure calibration accuracy. You can also define and name an entire group of routes to switch at the same time.

Choose Your Switch Modules

NI Switch Executive is built on top of the IVI switch class driver and works with any IVI-compliant switch driver. All National Instruments switch modules include NI-SWITCH, a full-featured IVI-compliant driver. In addition to National Instruments PXI and SCXI switch modules, you can also control many third-party PXI, VXI, and GPIB modules. Please contact your switch vendor to inquire about IVI driver support.

Program Intuitively

NI Switch Executive provides full programmatic control of your configured routes in TestStand, LabVIEW, and Measurement Studio, which provides tools for NI LabWindows/CVI and Microsoft Visual Basic.

Integrate with NI TestStand

In addition to programmatic control, you can route NI Switch Executive virtual devices from any TestStand step by configuring the switching tab. This feature removes the complexity and maintenance of switch programming from your test development.

Easily Validate and Deploy

With a simple click of a button, NI Switch Executive validates the IVI devices, routes, and route groups in your application, returning any errors that need correction. Next, you can export the completed switch configurations to a single file for deployment. The NI Switch Executive Deployment-Engine allows you to configure your IVI switches.
