This example was created using Lookout 4.5, Lookout Protocol Drivers 4.5, the LabVIEW DSC Module 6.0 and an Allen Bradley SLC500 5/04 PLC using serial connection.
Note Allen Bradley SLC PLCs require null modem cable for serial connection.
1. Start Lookout, create a new process and create a new object by selecting Object >> Create.

2. Select the AB_SLC500 object from the list.

3. Configure the object properties using the exact communication settings from the proprietary software (the image below correspond to a specific PLC configuration, your settings may be different). Click OK when you are done.

4. At this point, the PLC should be configured in Lookout or Lookout Protocol Drivers and you can start accessing the object data members.

For more information about the data members, refer to the Lookout Help.

For information about accessing the PLC registers, refer to Accessing Lookout Object Data Members.

Refer to Connecting LabVIEW OPC Client through DataSocket connection for information about accessing the PLC from LabVIEW.

Refer to Notes on Allen Bradley PLC Addressing for general information about Allen Bradley PLC addressing.
