Logging Data to a Remote Citadel Database
Starting with LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control module 6.1, you can now log data from one computer to a database on another computer. This is performed by transferring data across the network through Logos. By going through Logos, the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control module does not require any folders to be shared on the network, and the network traffic is kept at a minimum. To perform remote data logging, follow the steps below.
Setting Up Remote Datalogging
b. Select Configure»Historical. Refer to the following figure. c. Click Browse by the Log to Computer field and select the computer that will contain the database, as shown in the following figure.

4.) If you wish to log the alarms and events to the remote computer, repeat the above steps for the Configure»Events menu option.
Accessing the Remote Database
Two new VIs (Make Network Database Path.vi and Split Network Database Path.vi) were added to the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control module 6.1 to aid in accessing remote databases. Make Network Database Path.vi (shown in Figure 3) creates the network path used by the trend VIs when given the computer name and location of the database. Split Network Database Path.vi gives the computer name and path location based on a given network path. These VIs can be found in the Historical Data function palette. This VIs also work for the Alarms and Event retrieval VIs.
