Overview

Measurement Studio 8.0.1 and later provide complete support and intergration for Visual Studio 2005 and the .NET Framework 2.0. Prior versions of Measurement Studio, including 8.0.0, require additional work to use Measurement Studio in Visual Studio 2005. The remainder of this document discusses using prior versions of Measurement Studio in Visual Studio 2005.

The easyiest way to use Measurement Studio and Visual Studio 2005 is to upgrade to Measurement Studio 8.0.1 or later, visit ni.com/mstudio.

Using Measurement Studio User Interface Controls with Visual Studio 2005

Measurement Studio 8.0 components can be used in Visual Studio 2005, but they do not offer direct integration with the Visual Studio environment.

In order to use Measurement Studio user interface controls in Visual Studio 2005, please follow the following steps:

1. Open Visual Studio 2005.
2 .Create a new project.
3. Right-click on the toolbox and select Add Tab. Name this tab Measurement Studio.

4. Right-click on the Measurement Studio tab that you just created and select Choose Items.

5. Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2003\DotNET\Assemblies\Current. Select the NationalInstruments.UI.WindowsForms.dll assembly. Press Open.

6. You will now see all the Measurement Studio controls. Press OK.

7. All Measurement Studio controls are now visible in the Toolbox.

Using DataSocket



1. Follow steps 1 through 5 above, but select the NationalInstruments.Net.dll assembly instead.

2. You will see the DataSocket controls added to the list. Press OK.

Using Measurement Studio Assemblies with Visual Studio 2005


In order to use Measurement Studio components in Visual Studio 2005, please follow the following steps:

1. Open Visual Studio 2005.
2 .Create a new project.
3. Right-click on References under the Solution Explorer. Select Add Reference.

4. Add the National Instruments assemblies that you want to use such as those for analysis, data acquisition, and instrument control.
