Overview

TestStand is designed to automate a sequence of steps. These steps can be individual tests, measurements, actions, or commands. With that in mind, any application needing automation of executable pieces of code can benefit from the use of TestStand. TestStand was designed to address four key areas: to simplify and accelerate complex sequence development; to increase code and test system reusability and maintenance; and to improve test system execution performance. This has led to adoption in consumer electronics for validation and manufacturing test, military and aerospace applications as well as IC characterization and simple code sequencing.

Validation and Manufacturing Test

Device test ranges from simple series pass/fail measurements to complex sequencing, branching, looping and decision making of test code. Production and manufacturing could include many different product and product families for test and require optimum performance and throughput. Manufacturing test also pushes to reuse tests and measurements from validation, a much more thorough and time consuming process of device test.

Semiconductor Characterization and Validation

Semiconductor characterization and validation is a time consuming process that typically involves high precision measurements and timing. With the ability to automate these sophisticated measurements, TestStand gives you the ability to automate the entire process, allowing loop characterization of devices.

Mil/Aero Functional Test

Typically, military and aerospace applications are complex in scope, requiring the interface of several heterogeneous sub-systems. Supporting these systems for 10 or more years is typical and code reuse is critical. TestStand is ideal for these situations. TestStand’s open language adapters to virtually all programming languages allows for new technology insertion while supporting legacy programming languages. In addition, the TestStand Engine is optimized for speed and designed for maximum flexibility and long-term compatibility.
