What's New In NI Volume License Manager
Overview
NI Volume License Manager (NI VLM) 2.1.1 allows you to take advantage of the latest installation enhancements of LabVIEW 8.6 and Q3 NI Developer Suite DVDs. VLA Admininstrators will now be able to actively manage LabVIEW modules and toolkits and if there are many license packages they will see a significant reduction in the time taken to create volume license installers (formerly known as network installers). Disconnected license files can also be emailed directly from NI VLM.
LabVIEW Modules and Toolkits Actively Managed By NI VLM
LabVIEW Modules and Toolkits 8.5.1 and earlier were not actively managed in NI VLM, they were stored as bookept items. VLA Admininstrators could attach user and computer names to licenses, but the licenses would not be limited to those users and computers. Now NI VLM actively manages LabVIEW module and toolkit licenses like LabVIEW, limiting usage. Customers using NI VLM or FLEXlm before LabVIEW 8.5 will need to take some action to assign permissions to toolkit and modules.
DVD Support
LabVIEW 8.6 and Q3 NI Developer Suite both support all activatable software on DVDs. For example you can find LabVIEW 8.6, LabVIEW FPGA Module 8.6, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module 8.6 all in the same LabVIEW DVD. LabVIEW 8.6, TestStand 4.1, and DIAdem 11 can all be found in the same set of NI Developer Suite DVDs.
The DVD installer creates a simplified experience for you and your users. Now you can create a group of volume license installers (formerly known as network installers) for the whole LabVIEW platform or NI Developer Suite platform with only one run of the Volume License Installer Wizard. If setup correctly end users only run a single network installer for all the software they need from the DVD.
Email Disconnected License Files
Save time disconnecting licenses by emailing them directly to end users from within NI VLM 2.1.1 instead of saving them and later emailing them through your regular email domain. NI VLM gives you the choice to email and/or save the licenses when they get disconnected.

VLM only runs on XP?!!?!?
I know M$ Vista is a pure failure, and a
virus of an operating system, so I wouldn't
spend much effort on making VLM run on it
myself either, but is there ANY notion of
having VLM run on Windows 7?

It would be useful to know how to create
the
"group of volume license installers
(formerly known as network installers)"
Could you provide a link to the
instructions on how it's done?
