EPICS IO Server for LabVIEW
Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) is a software architecture for building distributed control systems to operate devices such as particle accelerators, telescopes, and other large experiments. With the EPICS client in LabVIEW, you can connect to EPICS IOC to read and write from process variables.
National instruments in partnership with Cosylab has developed a pioneer version of EPICS IOC based on VxWorks capable of running simultaneously with LabVIEW Real-Time on CompactRIO. To learn more about this pioneer version, please email Arun.Veeramani@ni.com
To install EPICS IO Server support for LabVIEW without the Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module installed, follow the steps below. Make sure to exit LabVIEW before following these steps.
1. Extract the ZIP file to a location on your hard drive
2. Run the NI_IOSrvPvdr\NI_IOSrvPvdr.msi installer
3. Run the EPICSSrvr.msi\EPICSSrvr.msi installer
4. Run the EPICSLVSupp86.msi\EPICSLVSupp86.msi installer
5. Place the ni_monad_epics.vi in the <National Instruments>\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\variable\tagger\mndui\config\dialog\ folder
6. Open the services window by going go the Start >> Run window and typing "services.msc" (without the quotes)
7. Find "National Instruments Variable Engine" in the list, right-click and select Restart.
Once you launch LabVIEW you should be able to create a new EPICS IO Server.
