The measured impedance across the input terminals of a circuit. This impedance is a combination of resistance, inductance, and capacitance.

For instrument and data acquisition products, input impedance is usually defined as the effective resistance and capacitance seen at the input to the amplifier. The impedance can vary when the board is powered on, powered off, and when isolated input limits are overloaded. In general, the higher the input impedance of the DAQ product, the less the product will disturb the signal being measured.
