Click the Configure button on the Alarming page of the Shared Variable Properties dialog box to display this dialog box. Use this dialog box to configure alarms for a shared variable with a Data Type of Double.
 | Note You can configure alarms only for network-published shared variables. |
This dialog box includes the following components:
- Enable Alarm—Creates the alarm. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI—Enables the HI_HI alarm.
- HI—Enables the HI alarm.
- LO—Enables the LO alarm.
- LO_LO—Enables the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status—Creates an alarm for a bad status. You can enter a name for the Bad Status alarm in the text box.
- Rate of Change—Creates a rate of change alarm. You can enter a name for the Rate of Change alarm in the text box.
- Name—Sets the name of the alarm. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Name—Sets the name of the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Name—Sets the name of the HI alarm.
- LO Name—Sets the name of the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Name—Sets the name of the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Name—Sets the name of the Bad Status alarm.
- ROC Name—Sets the name of the Rate of Change alarm.
- Limit—Sets the value, in engineering units, that evokes the alarm condition. HI_HI Limit>HI Limit>LO Limit>LO_LO Limit. The shared variable remains in the alarm state until the shared variable value goes below the Limit value minus the Deadband value. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Limit—Specifies the high-high value that evokes the alarm condition.
- HI Limit—Specifies the high value that evokes the alarm condition.
- LO Limit—Specifies the low value that evokes the alarm condition.
- LO_LO Limit—Specifies the low-low value that evokes the alarm condition.
- Deadband—Sets the alarm deadband as a percentage of the full scale range. A shared variable does not return to a normal state until it has left the alarm condition set by Limit by at least the value of Deadband. If you set the Deadband too high, the shared variable value might not clear the alarm. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Deadband—Sets the HI_HI alarm deadband percentage of the full scale range.
- HI Deadband—Sets the HI alarm deadband percentage of the full scale range.
- LO Deadband—Sets the LO alarm deadband percentage of the full scale range.
- LO_LO Deadband—Sets the LO_LO alarm deadband percentage of the full scale range.
- Change—Sets the value that the shared variable value must change in the specified Time to go into an alarm state.
- Time—Sets the amount of time, in milliseconds, in which the shared variable value must change at least the value of Change to go into an alarm state.
- Priority—Sets the priority of the alarm. Enter a value between 1 and 1000, where 1000 is the highest priority. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Priority—Sets the priority of the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Priority—Sets the priority of the HI alarm.
- LO Priority—Sets the priority of the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Priority—Sets the priority of the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Priority—Sets the priority of the Bad Status alarm.
- Rate of Change Priority—Sets the priority of the Rate of Change alarm.
- Ack Type—Specifies how alarms are acknowledged. Auto (default) specifies that LabVIEW acknowledges the alarm when the shared variable value returns to a normal state. User specifies that LabVIEW does not acknowledge the alarm until the user acknowledges the alarm, regardless of the alarm state.
- HI_HI Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the HI alarm.
- LO Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the Bad Status alarm.
- Rate of Change Ack Type—Specifies how LabVIEW acknowledges the Rate of Change alarm.
- Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the alarm. Create alarm areas to acknowledge an entire area of alarms as a single batch operation. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the HI alarm.
- LO Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the Bad Status alarm.
- Rate of Change Area—Sets a descriptive area name for the Rate of Change alarm.
- Description—Sets the description of the alarm. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Description—Sets the description of the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Description—Sets the description of the HI alarm.
- LO Description—Sets the description of the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Description—Sets the description of the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Description—Sets the description of the Bad Status alarm.
- Rate of Change Description—Sets the description of the Rate of Change alarm.
- Log?—Enables alarm logging for the alarm. You also must place a checkmark in the Log Alarms & Events checkbox on the Logging page of the Shared Variable Properties dialog box and place a checkmark in the Enable Alarms and Events Logging checkbox on the DSC Settings: Database page of the Project Library Properties dialog box to enable alarm logging. Contains the following options:
- HI_HI Log?—Enables alarm logging for the HI_HI alarm.
- HI Log?—Enables alarm logging for the HI alarm.
- LO Log?—Enables alarm logging for the LO alarm.
- LO_LO Log?—Enables alarm logging for the LO_LO alarm.
- Bad Status Log?—Enables alarm logging for the Bad Status alarm.
- Rate of Change Log?—Enables alarm logging for the Rate of Change alarm.
