Creating Modbus I/O Servers (DSC Module)

Note  By default, the LabVIEW DSC Module does not install Modbus support. You must click Modbus Protocol Support in the Features page of the DSC Module installer and select Install this feature to a local drive. You also can launch the Windows Add or Remove Programs window and click the Change button for National Instruments Software to modify the installation. Click the Modify button in the National Instruments Software dialog box and select Install this feature to a local drive for the Modbus Protocol Support feature.

Modbus is an application-level messaging protocol that provides client-server communication between devices connected on different types of buses or networks. With the DSC Module, you can create Modbus I/O servers to read and write data directly to Modbus devices using network-published shared variables.

Right-click My Computer or a LabVIEW project library in the Project Explorer window and select New»I/O Server to display the Create New I/O Server dialog box. You then can select Modbus and click the Continue button to display the Configure Modbus Instance dialog box.

You also can use the Create and Configure IO Server Express VI to create a Modbus I/O server programmatically.
