You can use this polymorphic VI to write an array of data to the shared memory of the RT target running on the RTX subsystem. Wire RTRTX::0 to the device input of the RT Incremental Single Write VI to specify the RT target on the RTX subsystem. The VI writes a start value in memory on the first iteration, writes the data in 16-bit halves for two iterations, and then writes the end value after the data in memory on the last iteration, thus requiring four iterations to write each element of the data array. ![]() |
device is the name of the RTX subsystem (for example, RTRTX::0). The default is RT::0.
![]() |
byte offset is the location in memory to start writing data.
![]() |
data is the array of data you want to write to shared memory. The RT Incremental Single Write VI writes each element of the data array in four iterations. The VI reads the element to write from the data array on the first iteration and does not use the data array in the subsequent three iterations.
![]() |
iteration is the current iteration of the loop. Wire this parameter to the iteration terminal of the While Loop.

error in describes error conditions that occur before this VI or function runs.
The default is no error. If an error occurred before this VI or function runs, the VI or function passes the error in value to error out. This VI or function runs normally only if no error occurred before this VI or function runs. If an error occurs while this VI or function runs, it runs normally and sets its own error status in error out. Use the Simple Error Handler or General Error Handler VIs to display the description of the error code. Use error in and error out to check errors and to specify execution order by wiring error out from one node to error in of the next node.

device out is the name of the RTX subsystem.

next byte offset is the location in shared memory to write during the next iteration of this VI.

error out contains error information. If error in indicates that an error occurred before this VI or function ran, error out contains the same error information. Otherwise, it describes the error status that this VI or function produces.
Right-click the error out front panel indicator and select Explain Error from the shortcut menu for more information about the error.

The RT Incremental Single Write VI shares several data values between VIs running on an RT target and VIs running on the host computer. Use this VI in applications that run in continuous loops where the loop speed needs to be as fast as possible.
![]() | Note The RT Incremental Single Write VI does not write new data if you have not read previous values with the RT Incremental Single Read VI, which results in lost data points. |
