Use the RT target Properties dialog box to configure the project properties for an RT target. You can configure general, VI Server, Web Server, access, and miscellaneous RT target settings using the RT target Properties dialog box. Right-click an RT target in the Project Explorer window and select Properties from the shortcut menu to open the RT target Properties dialog box.

Note After setting the properties of an RT target, you must deploy the settings to the RT target before they take effect. Right-click the RT target in the Project Explorer window and select Deploy from the shortcut menu to deploy the target with the new settings. |
You can configure additional settings for an RT target to set BIOS options, date and system time, and other advanced features.
You can improve the performance of VIs running on RT Series PXI controllers and desktop PC targets if you disable the legacy USB hardware in the BIOS of the controller.

Note BIOS configurations and configuration interfaces for desktop PCs vary among different manufacturers and system models. Refer to the motherboard or system manual for information about accessing and configuring the BIOS settings of the desktop PC. |
For RT Series PXI controllers, make sure the PXI controller has the following BIOS setting:
Integrated Peripherals
USB Keyboard = DISABLED
Additionally, for NI PXI-8170 controllers, make sure the controller has the following BIOS setting:
PnP/PCI Configuration
Assign IRQ for USB = DISABLED
Refer to the Max Remote Systems book of the Measurement & Automation Explorer Help, available by selecting Help»MAX Help from MAX, for information about configuring networked RT targets.
Use MAX to configure a time zone for a networked RT target and then use the RT Set Date and Time VI to set the date and system time for the target.
Refer to the Using Desktop PCs as RT Targets with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module document for information about configuring a desktop PC as a networked RT target.
To take advantage of a multiple-CPU system, use the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard in MAX to install the NI RT Extensions for SMP. Refer to the Measurement & Automation Explorer Help for information about using the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard.

Note Single-CPU systems perform best without the NI RT Extensions for SMP. Also, some applications, such as those that consist mainly of single-point I/O, can achieve lower latency using a single CPU without the NI RT Extensions for SMP. You can use the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard in MAX to uninstall the NI RT Extensions for SMP. |
You can configure advanced network features of an RT target using the Advanced Ethernet Settings dialog box in MAX. Click the Advanced Ethernet Settings button, located on the Network Settings tab of an RT target, to open the Advanced Ethernet Settings dialog box.
Use the Advanced Ethernet Settings dialog box to configure a second Ethernet device for an RT Series PXI target. You can create real-time applications that can send multiple copies of data over different local networks and applications that can prioritize or isolate network traffic.

Note You cannot configure two Ethernet devices for an RT target on the same IP subnet. If you configure an RT target to use two Ethernet devices on the same IP subnet, the second device is unusable. |
