The following are NI-DCPower configurable settings for the measure unit:

  • Aperture time
  • Auto zero
  • DC noise rejection
  • Samples to average
  • Sense
  • Measure when
  • Measure records

Aperture Time

Complete the following steps to configure aperture time.

  1. Set power line frequency for a specified channel using the niDCPower Configure Power Line Frequency VI or the niDCPower_ConfigurePowerLineFrequency function. The default power line frequency is 60 Hz.
  2. Select a valid aperture time for your device in power line cycles (PLCs) or in seconds. You will use this value to set aperture time in the next step. To determine supported aperture times for your device, refer to the device book specific to your power supply or SMU.
  3. Set the aperture time and units using the niDCPower Configure Aperture Time VI or niDCPower_ConfigureApertureTime function.

Auto Zero

Configure auto zero for the device using the niDCPower Configure Auto Zero VI or the niDCPower_ConfigureAutoZero function.

DC Noise Rejection

Set DC noise rejection using the niDCPower DC Noise Rejection property or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_DC_NOISE_REJECTION attribute.

Samples To Average

Set samples to average on the device using the niDCPower Samples To Average property or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_SAMPLES_TO_AVERAGE attribute.

Sense

For channels on the device that support the feature, select the sensing option using the niDCPower Configure Sense VI or the niDCPower_ConfigureSense function.

Measure When

Set the parameters for acquiring measurements using the niDCPower Measure When property or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_WHEN attribute. For more information, refer to Acquiring Measurements.

Measure Records

A measure record is a collection of measurements taken in series. The measurements are taken in succession; after a measurement is completed, the next one starts. The effective time period between the start of two consecutive measurements within the record can be queried through the niDCPower Measure Record Delta Time property or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_RECORD_DELTA_TIME attribute. This effective time period is a function of the measure unit settings, including Aperture Time, Samples to Average, and Auto Zero. Use the niDCPower Measure Record dt property or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_RECORD_DELTA_TIME attribute to correctly plot the measurements as a function of time.

The number of measurements within a measure record can be configured using the niDCPower Measure Record Length and niDCPower Measure Record Length Is Finite properties or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_RECORD_LENGTH and NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_RECORD_LENGTH_IS_FINITE attributes.

Every measure record has a configurable Measure trigger to start the acquisition of the measure record. After the measure record has been completed, the measure engine generates a Measure Complete event. You can retrieve measurements by calling the niDCPower Fetch Multiple VI or the niDCPower_FetchMultiple function. The Measure When property must be set to Automatically after Source Complete or On Measure Trigger or the NIDCPOWER_ATTR_MEASURE_WHEN attribute must be set to NIDCPOWER_VAL_AUTOMATICALLY_AFTER_SOURCE_COMPLETE or NIDCPOWER_VAL_ON_MEASURE_TRIGGER to use measure records.

Note Note  Measure records are not available in a session where multiple channels are present, refer to Using Channel-Based Sessions for more information. Measure records cannot be continuous if you are using Sequence source mode and the Measure When property is set to Automatically after Source Complete.
