A trigger is a signal to the device to start an operation. Triggers can be generated externally from connections such as PXI triggers.
You can route and export triggers on some NI power supplies and SMUs. Additionally, you can specify the edge of the signal on which the trigger asserts.
Exported versions of a trigger cannot be pulse expanded to a user-settable width, but they are guaranteed to be generated for 150 ns so that they can pass correctly to other devices on the PXI trigger bus.
Triggers are digitally filtered to avoid noise. Any trigger generated for less than 50 ns is ignored; any trigger generated for at least 100 ns is detected.
