General DSP Module Features
- The DSP Module now supports the Spectrum Digital 6416 DSK. For those algorithms that require floating-point implementation, the DSP Module uses floating-point emulation using Texas Instruments floating-point library.
- The DSP Module now uses LabVIEW projects and the Project Explorer window to help you manage and implement the components of a DSP application.
- Palette items are now organized according to categories. Custom palette views are no longer supported.
- The Specify Flash Memory Build dialog box replaces the Download to Flash Memory dialog box.
- Disconnect and Connect commands—Available by right-clicking the DSP target in the Project Explorer window and selecting Disconnect or Connect from the shortcut menu, lets you change the connection status between the DSP target and the host computer.
- The DSP Module no longer uses the LabVIEW DSP Module Status Monitor dialog box. You can find some of the functionality of the dialog box using the following:
- Build Status dialog box—Available when you click the Run button, displays the events that occur as the DSP Module builds a DSP VI into a DSP application and downloads the application to the DSP target.
- Target Information dialog box—Available by right-clicking the DSP target in the Project Explorer window and selecting Utilities»Target Information from the shortcut menu, displays memory usage information on the DSP target. There must be an active connection between the DSP target and the host computer to access the Target Information dialog box.
- Disconnect Indicators and Snapshot commands—Available from the Operate menu when you run a DSP application on a DSP target, lets you disconnect and reconnect the front panel indicators and take a snapshot of the DSP application running on the DSP target.
- The DSP Module no longer shows build warnings when you build a DSP VI into a DSP application.

Upgrading to the DSP Module 2.0
- Because the DSP Module 1.0 uses LabVIEW 7.1, read the LabVIEW 8.0 Upgrade Notes to familiarize yourself with the differences between the 7.1 and 8.x LabVIEW environments.
- You must create a DSP project before you can build, download, and run DSP applications.
- When you upgrade DSP VIs to work with DSP Module 2.0, you can no longer use them with the DSP Module 1.0.
- You must now add Elemental I/O items to the Project Explorer window before you can use Elemental I/O Nodes in a DSP VI.
