When the DSP Module successfully builds, downloads, and runs a DSP application on the target, a green indicator lights up next to the DSP target in the Project Explorer window. When no active connection exists between the DSP target and LabVIEW, the indicator is dark.

Determining the Connection Status between the DSP Target and the Host Computer

DSP target has an active connection—You can successfully download and upload information from the DSP target.

DSP target does not have an active connection—No open communication channel exists between the DSP Module and the DSP target.

Note  An application does not have to be actively running on the DSP target for LabVIEW to remain connected to the DSP target, and an active connection does not necessarily mean that LabVIEW is sending and receiving information to and from the DSP target. For example, you might have to disconnect and reconnect the DSP target from the Project Explorer window to communicate with a DSP application running from the flash memory on the DSP target.

Creating an Active Connection between LabVIEW and the DSP Target

You can create an active connection between the DSP target and the host computer in one of the following ways:

  • Click the Run button and successfully build and download a DSP application to the DSP target.
  • Right-click the DSP target in the Project Explorer window and select Connect from the shortcut menu. If LabVIEW can connect with a DSP application running on the DSP target, the VI front panel window opens and begins updating.
