Migrating Custom DSP VIs from 1.0 to the Current Version (DSP Module)
If you created DSP VIs using the DSP Module 1.0, you must create projects and update the VIs for use with the current version of LabVIEW and the DSP Module. VIs you created with versions of the DSP Module other than 1.0 are compatible with the current version.

Caution National Instruments recommends you back up your files before you begin updating DSP Module 1.0 VIs. For example, DSP-specific Express VIs and Elemental I/O Nodes are not backward-compatible, so you cannot save DSP VIs that use those items in a previous version of LabVIEW. |
The following list highlights the differences between the DSP Module 1.0 and the current version.
- Because the DSP Module 1.0 uses LabVIEW 7.1, you might want to read the LabVIEW Upgrade Notes to familiarize yourself with the differences between the 7.1 and later LabVIEW environments.
- The DSP Module now uses LabVIEW projects and the Project Explorer window to help you manage and implement the components of a DSP application.
- Palette items are now organized according to categories. Custom palette views are no longer supported.
- You must create a DSP project before you can build, download, and run DSP applications.
- When you upgrade DSP VIs to work with the current DSP Module, you can no longer use them with the DSP Module 1.0.
- You must now add Elemental I/O items to the Project Explorer window before you can use Elemental I/O Nodes in a DSP VI.

Tip Use the DSP Project Wizard to create new projects with existing DSP VIs and to add Elemental I/O items automatically to the project. |
