In the Create New I/O Server dialog box, select Modbus and click the Continue button to display this dialog box.

You also can display this dialog box by double-clicking the Create and Configure IO Server Express VI, selecting Modbus from the I/O Server Type drop-down list, and clicking the Set Attributes button.

Use this dialog box to configure the instance of the Modbus I/O server you want to use. This dialog box contains the following options:

• Name—Displays the name of this instance of the Modbus I/O server.
• Model—Specifies the type of communication protocol you want to use. You can select Modbus Serial or Modbus Ethernet.
• Communication Setting—Specifies settings for the type of communication you want to use with this instance of the Modbus I/O server. Contains the following options:
  • Address—Specifies the address of this instance of the Modbus I/O server.
  • Refresh Rate—Specifies how often this instance of the Modbus I/O server refreshes the device, in seconds.
  • Retry Attempts—Specifies how many consecutive times this instance of the Modbus I/O server attempts to establish communication with a device if the Modbus I/O server does not receive a valid response.
  • Wait For—Specifies how many seconds this instance of the Modbus I/O server waits if communication with the device fails.
  • Alarm Priority—Sets the priority level of alarms generated by this instance of the Modbus I/O server.
  • Receive Timeout—Specifies the time delay, in milliseconds, that this instance of the Modbus I/O server waits for a response from the device.
  • Transmission Mode—Specifies the type of data this instance of the Modbus I/O server receives or sends. You can select RTU or ASCII.
  • Serial Port—Specifies the serial port this instance of the Modbus I/O server uses to communicate with the device. You can select a serial port in the range from COM1 to COM32. This option appears if you select Modbus Serial from the Model pull-down menu.
  • Baud Rate—Specifies the baud rate of this instance of the Modbus I/O server. You can select a value from 2400 to 115200. This option appears if you select Modbus Serial from the Model pull-down menu.
  • Parity—Specifies the parity of this instance of the Modbus I/O server. You can select none, even, odd, mark, or space. This option appears if you select Modbus Serial from the Model pull-down menu.
  • Stop Bits—Specifies the number of stop bits this instance of the Modbus I/O server uses. You can select 1, 1.5, or 2. This option appears if you select Modbus Serial from the Model pull-down menu.
  • Data Bits—Specifies how many data bits this instance of the Modbus I/O server uses. You can select 7 or 8. This option appears if you select Modbus Serial from the Model pull-down menu.
  • IP Address—Specifies the IP address of the device with which this instance of the Modbus I/O server communicates. This option appears if you select Modbus Ethernet from the Model pull-down menu.
• Advanced—Displays the Advanced Attribute Settings dialog box.
