Select Project»Resolve Conflicts from the Project Explorer window to display this dialog box. You also can click the Resolve Conflicts toolbar button or right-click a conflicting item in the Project Explorer window and select Resolve Conflicts from the shortcut menu to display this dialog box.

Use this dialog box to resolve conflicts by renaming or redirecting the conflicting items to call dependent items from the correct path. A conflict is a potential cross-link that occurs when LabVIEW attempts to load a VI that has the same qualified name as an item already in the LabVIEW project. You can redirect dependent items to call the item with the correct path.

This dialog box includes the following components:

  • Conflicts—Displays the project conflicts by qualified name. Double-click a specific conflict to highlight the item in the Project Explorer window. LabVIEW automatically updates this information as you resolve conflicts.
  • Compare—Compares two conflicting VIs. LabVIEW dims this option if conflicts reside between files other than VIs or controls. This option loads each VI and its entire hierarchy in separate application instances.
  • Use Selected Item—Resolves the conflicts when you select an item to use. If the conflict list involves only top-level items, LabVIEW removes all items in the conflict list from the project except the item you select. If the conflict list involves subVIs or type definitions that other items refer to, LabVIEW removes all items in the conflict list from the project except the item you select and updates the referencing items.
Note  Conflicts can exist under auto-populated folders. However, LabVIEW cannot modify auto-populated folders in the Resolve Project Conflicts dialog box. If there is one item from an auto-populated folder in Conflicts, you can select only that item. All other items cannot currently resolve the conflict and LabVIEW dims Use Selected Item. If there are multiple items from auto-populated folders in Conflicts, no single conflicting item can be chosen without creating more conflicts. You can disable an auto-populating folder by right-clicking the folder and selecting Stop Auto-populating from the shortcut menu. Resolve any remaining conflicts in the Project Explorer window.
LabVIEW dims the Use Selected Item button when the conflicting item is a library or a member of a project library. You also cannot select an item when one or more other items in this conflict group are open in the current project or one or more callers of an item cannot be updated because the caller is in conflict, is running, and so on.
  • Details for Selected Item(s)—Displays details for each item you select. Details include the item path, qualified name, creation date, and modification date. This content updates automatically depending on the item(s) you select. When you compare two items, LabVIEW displays information for both items.
    • Referencing Items—Displays all referencing items that automatically update if you select the current item to resolve the conflict.
