Previous versions of the Application Builder stored application build settings in a .bld file, also called a build script. You can convert a build script into a build specification in a new LabVIEW project. You then can edit the build specification settings and build the stand-alone application, shared library, or installer. The project stores the build specification settings.

Complete the following steps to convert a build script into a build specification.

  1. (Optional) Consider opening the VIs you want to work with and mass compiling them.
  2. Select Tools»Convert Build Script to display the Convert Build Script dialog box.
  3. Enter a filename in the Build script (.bld) to convert text box or click the Browse button to navigate to and select the file to convert.
  4. Enter a filename in the Project (.lvproj) to create text box or click the Browse button to navigate to the directory where you want to create the project and enter a new project name.
  5. Click the Convert button. LabVIEW uses the build script to create a new project that contains the source files and the build settings. LabVIEW opens and saves all VIs included in the build script.
  6. Review the items under My Computer and Dependencies to make sure the project contains the files you need for the stand-alone application, shared library, or installer.
Note Note  If you previously hid Dependencies in the Project Explorer window, you must display the item again to access it in the Project Explorer window.
  1. Right-click the build specification and select Properties from the shortcut menu to verify and edit the build specification settings. For example, you might need to change the path to the build destination. Click the Build button to build the application, shared library, or installer and to update the project with the build specification settings.
  2. Save the project if you want to save the build specification settings.
