You can use the Variable Reference property with the Variable properties to configure shared variables programmatically.

Note  You can create, configure, and host shared variables only on Windows or RT targets with the LabVIEW Real Time Module. You can use the DataSocket VIs and functions to read or write shared variables from other platforms. If you have a VI with a Shared Variable node that was configured on a Windows system, you also can move that VI to another platform.

Complete the following steps to configure a shared variable programmatically.

1. Use the Class Browser window to select the Variable Reference property and place it on the block diagram.
2. Place a Property Node on the block diagram.
3. Wire the Variable Reference output of the Variable Reference property to the reference input of the Property Node.
4. Right-click the Property output of the Variable property and select Create»Property for Variable Class and a property from the shortcut menu. LabVIEW creates a Property Node for the property you selected.
5. Configure the Variable properties as needed.

Note  Changes you make using the Variable properties take effect after you save the project library.
