Syntax

c = isvarname(a)

Description

Determines whether a string is a valid variable name. A valid variable name begins with a letter followed by a number of letters, digits, or underscores. The length of a valid variable name must be less than or equal to namelengthmax. isvarname does not determine whether a variable of the name you specify exists.

Outputs

Name Description
c Returns 1 if a is a valid variable name. Otherwise, this function returns 0. c is a Boolean.
