Owning Palette: AppleEvent VIs

Returns a target ID for an application based on its name and location. You can specify the name and location of the application or search the entire network for the application.
|App/port name is the name of the application for which you want the target ID. This parameter must match the name of the application exactly.|
|Search entire network indicates whether the VI searches the entire network for the application.|
|Zone indicates the zone of the target computer that the VI searches. The following table displays the search options.
|Server indicates the server that the VI searches.|
|first target ID contains the target ID of the first application found whose name matches App/port name.|
|total targets is the total number of applications that the VI finds whose names match App/port name.|
|all targets contains an array of the target IDs of all matching applications.|
|error is nonzero only if the search encounters an error. Finding zero targets is not necessarily an error if there are no applications with the specified name running and available on the network. Refer to the Apple Event Error Codes for more information.|
