Click the Add Device button in the Configure FPGA Devices wizard to display this dialog box. This dialog box also serves as the Edit FPGA Device dialog box, which launches when you click the Edit Device button in the Configure FPGA Devices wizard.

Use this dialog box to add FPGA devices, specify a master device, and associate an FPGA VI with each FPGA device.

Caution  If you add more than one FPGA device, RTSI 0 synchronizes the master and slave FPGA devices. Driving this RTSI line with another device can damage both devices. National Instruments is not liable for any damage resulting from such signal driving.

This dialog box includes the following components:

  • FPGA Device—Displays a list of FPGA devices installed on the real-time (RT) target you specified in the SIT Connection Manager dialog box.
  • Master Device—Specifies that this FPGA device is the master device. A master device controls the timing of other FPGA devices you use in the simulation. You can specify only one FPGA device as the master device.
Note  If you are using only one FPGA device in the simulation, the LabVIEW Simulation Interface Toolkit always marks this device as the master device.
  • FPGA VI—Displays the FPGA VI you selected to associate with the current FPGA Device. The Simulation Interface Toolkit provides FPGA VIs you can use with the NI PXI-7831R, PCI-7831R, and PXI-7811R. The Browse button appears dimmed unless you placed a custom FPGA VI in the labview\vi.lib\addons\Simulation Interface\_IOTypes\NI FPGA\FPGA IO VIs\ directory.

Custom FPGA VIs must have a filename in the following format: sitfpga Device LabVIEWVersion DeviceType CustomPart.vi.
wheresitfpga defines the VI as a custom FPGA VI.
DeviceType is the FPGA device on which you want to run the simulation
    LabVIEWVersion is 8_5
DeviceType is master or slave, depending on the type of FPGA device
CustomPart is any custom text you specify
For example, a filename of sitfpga PXI-7831R 8_5 master MyFPGA.vi specifies this FPGA VI runs on the National Instruments PXI-7831R, runs using LabVIEW 8.5, and is a master VI.
