You can disconnect LabVIEW from the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Server during a compile. You then can continue to use LabVIEW while the FPGA VI compiles.

Note  Do not modify the FPGA VI you are compiling.

Complete the following steps to disconnect LabVIEW from the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Server.

  1. Compile the FPGA VI.
  2. The Compiling VI for FPGA dialog box appears automatically when you compile the FPGA VI. View the Compiling VI for FPGA dialog box.
  3. Click the Disconnect button. The Compiling VI for FPGA dialog box disappears. You can continue to work in LabVIEW, but do not modify the FPGA VI being compiled.

Complete the following steps to reconnect to the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Server and download and run the FPGA VI on the FPGA target.

  1. Open the FPGA VI you are compiling.
  2. Click the Run button. The Beginning Compile dialog box appears. Select Always appear, Never appear, or Appear only if an old bitfile exists to determine when this dialog box appears again.
  3. Click the OK button in the Beginning Compile dialog box to reconnect to the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Server. The Compiling VI for FPGA dialog box appears. When the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Server completes the compile, the Successful Compile Report dialog box also appears.
Note  If the FPGA VI fails to compile, the Compilation Failure dialog box appears. Correct the compilation errors indicated in the dialog box and recompile the FPGA VI.
  4. Click the OK button in the Successful Compile Report dialog box. The FPGA VI downloads and runs on the FPGA target.
