Right-click an FPGA I/O control or constant and select Configure I/O Type from the shortcut menu to display this dialog box.

Use this dialog box to configure the specific data type of an FPGA I/O control or constant, including the supported methods and properties.

When you use an FPGA I/O control as an input on a subVI, the input accepts only I/O items that support a superset of the methods and properties you enable for the FPGA I/O control. All enabled method parameters must match in name, order, and data type. All enabled properties and I/O must match in name and data type.

Start by selecting an FPGA I/O item from the I/O Items list that supports all the methods and properties you plan to use with the FPGA I/O control. Click the Replace All button to copy methods and properties from the I/O Item Type list to the I/O Name Control Type list. You then can remove methods and properties from the I/O Name Control Type list that you do not want to require of I/O items passed to the control. To make the control broadly reusable, remove any resource-specific methods and properties that you do not use with the FPGA I/O control.

This dialog box contains the following components:

  • I/O Items—Lists all the FPGA I/O items that you previously added to the project. Select one of these I/O items as a model for the specific data type of the FPGA I/O control.
  • I/O Item Type—Lists the methods and properties that the I/O item you select from the I/O Items list supports.
  • Replace All—Copies all methods or properties from the I/O Item Type list to the I/O Name Control Type list.
  • I/O Item Type Details—Provides information about the method or property you select in the I/O Item Type list.
  • I/O Name Control Type—Lists the methods and properties that the I/O control supports.
  • Remove—Removes unwanted methods or properties you select from the I/O Name Control Type list.
  • I/O Name Control Type Details—Provides information about the method or property you select in the I/O Name Control Type list.
