Owning Palette: Basic Elements Functions
Requires: FPGA Module
Represents a DSP48E slice on a supported FPGA. A DSP48E slice is a digital signal processing logic element included on certain FPGA device families, such as the Xilinx Virtex-5.
Each DSP48E slice is equivalent to over 500 slices of programmable logic, consumes 1/10th the power of an equivalent logic implementation, and runs between 450 and 550 MHz depending on the FPGA.
Refer to the Configuring DSP48E Functions topic for information about configuring and using this function.
![]() | Note Before using this function in an FPGA VI, National Instruments recommends you become familiar with the information discussed in the Virtex-5 FPGA XtremeDSP Design Considerations User Guide (UG193), available on the Xilinx Web site at www.xilinx.com. This user guide contains detailed information about DSP48E slices, including architectural details, timing considerations, descriptions of input and output ports, and sample applications that will help you program the DSP48E slice effectively. |
