Owning Palette: FPGA Module VIs and Functions

Requires: FPGA Module. This topic might not match its corresponding palette in LabVIEW depending on your operating system, licensed product(s), and target.

Use the functions on this palette to access memory or transfer data.

Note  This palette is specific to FPGA targets.

The VIs and functions on this palette can return general LabVIEW error codes, specific FPGA Module error codes, or error codes specific to the FPGA target.

Palette ObjectDescription
FIFO ConstantUse the FIFO constant to specify a FIFO item on the block diagram.
FIFO Method NodeInvokes a FIFO method on an FPGA VI. You can invoke some or all of the following methods on FPGA FIFOs. The methods you can choose from depend on the FIFO you specify.

You must specify a FIFO before you specify a method.

Clear, Read, Write, Disable, Enable, Flush and Disable, Get Stream State, Get Number of Elements to Write, Get Number of Elements to Read
Handshake ConstantUse the Handshake constant to specify a handshake item on the block diagram.
Handshake Method NodeInvokes a handshake method on an FPGA VI.

You must specify a handshake item before you specify a method.

You can invoke the following methods on FPGA handshake items:

Write, Read, Clear, Read Without Acknowledge, Acknowledge
Memory ConstantUse the Memory constant to specify a memory item on the block diagram.
Memory Method NodeInvokes a method on a memory block on the FPGA. The methods available depend on the type of memory you configure.

You must specify a memory item before you specify a method.

You can invoke the following memory methods for memory you implement as block memory or look-up tables:

Write, Read

You can invoke the following memory methods for memory you implement as DRAM:

Write, Request Data, Retrieve Data

Note  When you configure the memory to have two read interfaces, the Read method contains an [A] or [B] in the label to denote which interface the node will access.
Register ConstantUse the Register constant to specify a register item on the block diagram.
Register Method NodeInvokes a method on a register item on the FPGA.

You must specify a register item before you specify a method. The methods are Write and Read.
VI-Defined FIFO ConfigurationRepresents a VI-defined FIFO. Right-click the node and select Configure to configure the VI-defined FIFO.
VI-Defined Handshake ConfigurationRepresents a VI-defined handshake item. Right-click the node and select Configure to configure the VI-defined handshake item. Use VI-defined handshake items to create reentrant subVIs and avoid resource conflicts.
VI-Defined Memory ConfigurationRepresents a VI-defined memory item. Right-click the node and select Configure to configure the VI-defined memory item.
VI-Defined Register ConfigurationRepresents a VI-defined register item. Right-click the node and select Configure to configure the VI-defined register item.
