Viewing and Retrieving Alarm and Event Data (DSC Module)

You can view and retrieve alarm and event data in the following ways:

  • Alarm and Event Display Control—You can use the Alarm and Event Display control to view alarm and event data that you want to monitor from any LabVIEW processes running on the network. You also can acknowledge alarms in this control.
  • Summary Data Control—You can use this control to view alarm data, such as the number of active alarms and unacknowledged alarms in the system.
  • VIs—You can use the Alarms & Events VIs and the Historical VIs to retrieve alarm and event data for display or for use with other VIs.
  • NI Shared Variable Monitor—You can use the alarm and event display in the bottom right pane of the National Instruments Shared Variable Monitor. The display in the NI Shared Variable Monitor shows the same information that appears in the Alarm and Event Display control. To launch the NI Shared Variable Monitor, select Tools»DSC Module»Monitor Variables.
  • Historical Data Viewer—You can use the Historical Data Viewer, available in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), to create views of alarm and event data. You also can use the Historical Data Viewer to archive and export alarm and event data that has been logged to a Citadel database.
  • Alarm Printer I/O Server—You can use this I/O server to print alarm and event data to a line printer.
