Note You can configure alarming only for shared variables with the Variable Type set to Network-Published on the Variable page of the Shared Variable Properties dialog box. |
Complete the following steps to configure alarms for double shared variables.
- Right-click a double-precision shared variable in the Project Explorer window and select Properties from the shortcut menu to display the Shared Variable Properties dialog box.
- In the Shared Variable Properties dialog box, select the Alarming option to display the Alarming page.
- On the Alarming page, place a checkmark in the Enable Alarming checkbox.
- Click the Configure button to display the Configure Double Alarms dialog box.
- In the Configure Double Alarms dialog box, place a checkmark in the alarm type checkbox that you want to enable for the double-precision shared variable.
- Enter the name of the alarm in the Name text box.
- If you enable a HI_HI, HI, LO, and LO_LO alarm, enter the level that triggers the alarm condition in the Level text box. The shared variable alarm state remains inactive until the shared variable value falls below the Level value minus the Deadband value.

Deadband acts like a hysteresis, which means a shared variable does not return to a normal state until the value of the shared variable has left the alarm condition set by Level by at least the value of Deadband. If you set the Deadband too high, the DSC Module might not clear the alarm.
- If you enable a Rate of Change alarm, enter the change in the Change text box. Change specifies the value that the network shared variable value must change in the value of Time to go into an alarm state.
- If you enable a Rate of Change alarm, enter the time in the Time text box. Time specifies the amount of time in which the network shared variable value must change at least the value of Change to go into an alarm state.
- Enter a priority for the alarm in the Priority text box. The priority level can be 1–1,000, where 1,000 is the highest priority.
- Select an the acknowledgement mode in the Ack Mode pull-down list.
- Enter a name for the area to which the alarm should belong in the Area text box.
- Enter a description of the alarm in the Description text box.
