Stopping and Starting the Shared Variable Engine (DSC Module)

The Shared Variable Engine starts automatically when you log into Windows. You also can stop and start the Shared Variable Engine manually.

Note  You can log data, alarms, and events only for network-published shared variables.

Complete the following steps to stop and start the Shared Variable Engine manually.

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, navigate to the Administrative Tools folder.
  2. Double-click the Services shortcut to display the Services utility.
  3. Right-click National Instruments Variable Engine in the Name list and select Stop or Start from the shortcut menu to stop or start the Shared Variable Engine, respectively.
Note  If you stop and restart the Shared Variable Engine, LabVIEW restarts all previously running I/O processes.

You also can stop and start the Shared Variable Engine using the Variable Manager dialog box. Select Action»Stop Shared Variable Engine or Action»Start Shared Variable Engine from the pull-down menu to stop or start the Shared Variable Engine, respectively.
