Filter Dialog Box

Installed With: DSC Module

Access this dialog box by placing an Alarm and Event Display control on the front panel of a VI. Then select Operate»Change to Run Mode. Right-click the Alarm and Event Display control and select Filter Options from the shortcut menu.

Use this dialog box to display only alarms and/or events that meet specific criteria.

Note  When you set filter criteria for events, LabVIEW clears the existing events. When new events occur, the the Alarm and Event Display control displays only the events that meet the filter criteria.

This dialog box includes the the following components:

  • Filter Criteria—Specifies the criteria of alarms and events to display. You can specify the following criteria in this section: Filter Criteria—Specifies the criteria of alarms and events to display. You can specify the following criteria in this section:
    Note  All the following criteria support wildcards except Priority. You can use asterisk (*) and question mark (?) wildcards to expand the scope of the filter. The asterisk represents one or more characters, and the question mark represents a single character. For example, a* stands for all user names that start with letter a. a? also stands for all user names start with letter a, but these user names must have only two characters.
    • Priority—Displays alarms and events with specific priorities.
      • Min—Specifies the minimum alarm priority.
      • Max—Specifies the maximum alarm priority.
    • User Name—Displays alarms and events that occurred while specific users were logged on.
    • Ack User Name—Displays the user who acknowledged the alarm or event.
    • Ack Comment—Displays any comment that the Ack User entered when the Ack User acknowledged the alarm.
    • Object Name—Displays alarms and events with specific object names.
      Note  You must enter the full path to the system tree object, for example, \\machine name\process name\object name.
    • Description—Displays alarms with specific descriptions.
    • Area Name—Displays alarms from specific alarm areas.
      Note  Use the Available Areas dialog box to select one of the alarm areas of the alarms in the current view. Click the Browse button to display this dialog box. You then can select an alarm area in this dialog box and click the OK button to apply this alarm area to the Area Name text box.
  • Old Alarms—Specifies whether to display alarms that the user or the system has acknowledged and cleared.
    • Number—Specifies the number of old alarms to show.
    • Start Time—Specifies a starting time to display alarms that occurred later than the time. Enter start time by using the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS.
  • Show Alarms, Show Events, Show Everything—Use these option buttons to specify whether to show alarms, events, or both alarms and events in this control.
  • Audible Alarms—Specifies whether to enable a sound alert when an alarm takes place.
